Frequently Asked Questions

Are classes in-person or online?

I run monthly group and private HypnoBirthing® and Breastfeeding classes and services online, in-person, or as a combination of both. All HypnoBirthing® classes are live and very interactive.

What is the pricing information?

In-person and hybrid group HypnoBirthing® classes are currently $399. This year I am offering monthly virtual classes for $349. Private HypnoBirthing® classes are $699. Breastfeeding Basics is a single 3-hour class for $79. All class costs include enrollment for you and your birth companion. Please submit an interest form on the Contact Page prior to enrolling to see if you might qualify for a discount.

Can I use insurance to cover the cost of classes?

Some insurances do cover the cost of childbirth education classes or may allow the use of a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Care Savings Account (HSA) to pay for all or any remaining balance of prenatal classes. I always provide completion paperwork after the conclusion of a course so that you may try and use it for insurance reimbursement. The course completion letter includes appropriate course information as well as CPT and or ICD codes for you to submit to your insurance for adequate proof of course completion.

How many classes are there in total?

HypnoBirthing® classes are taught in a series of 5 weekly 2.5 hour classes. In total, any Gold Certified HypnoBirthing® Educator should be teaching a minimum of 12.5 hours worth of education and techniques, along with providing additional take-home resources for guided meditation and relaxation practice. Classes are jam-packed with both the information and practical application of techniques to build a foundation of confidence that will keep fear out of your labor and delivery. The Breastfeeding Basics class is a single 3-hour course.

If I miss a HypnoBirthing® session due to prior commitments am I able to make it up?

Because much of the information covered in each unit is copyrighted by the HypnoBirthing® Institute, I am unable to record classes, email any in-class videos, or send recordings from missed sessions. To make up a full class for both the expecting mother and her birth partner, is an additional charge. It has happened that the birth companion was unable to make a class with you. For those special circumstances, I can email you some of my personal class notes upon request so that you may review the information with your companion during the week between classes. Partners are strongly encouraged to attend all classes.

How does HypnoBirthing® differ from other childbirth preparation methods?

HypnoBirthing® differs from many other programs in that we do not simply teach pain management techniques and wish you the best of luck. No, we advocate the evidence-based research that your body and baby were designed to birth WITHOUT the necessity of pain. ALL of the mothers I have worked with have shared with me that they approached their labors with excitement and confidence, and many of them had deliveries that were so quick and smooth that they amazed not only themselves but also their care providers with their amazing births. In short, HypnoBirthing® parents come away with the most beautiful birth stories you will ever hear.

What do you offer that makes your classes different from others?

All Gold Certified HypnoBirthing® Childbirth Educators (HBCE) are trained and certified by the HypnoBirthing® Institute and therefore the content in each unit is the same. You can also rest assured that HypnoBirthing® The Mongan Method is the leader in the field of childbirth education with hypnosis. Any HBCE should follow the same tried and true program of 5 weekly classes of 2.5 hours of jam-packed information sessions or a minimum of 12.5 hours of course material.

Personally, I like to remember what it was like for my husband and I as I took the course in preparation for the birth of our son. Life was busy, time and money was tight, and he and I both needed to connect with one another more through the process. For this reason I always include a few bonuses like a free gift of an audiobook copy of the class textbook HypnoBirthing® The Mongan Method 4th Edition, extra relaxation tracks, and discounts on consultations or other services. I also try to incorporate some games and helpful activities that make classes feel fun and engaging. I truly feel that birth was designed as a very intimate culmination of the sensuality of man and woman and in that sense is a natural extension of their love as they welcome their little baby into this world. HypnoBirthing® is the best program to engage the entire family (mother, father, and baby) and I lean into that dynamic in every class.

What steps do I need to take in order to enroll?

To enroll in a class, simply browse the Class Offerings Page of the website, add the class series of your choice to your shopping cart, and checkout online. Once registered I will reach out to you to establish which class date you registered for or you may send that detail to me via the Contact Form. Upcoming class dates are posted on the The Class Offerings page of my website. Once you have completed this process, I can begin sending the course materials to your mailing address. NOTE: Due to a materials delivery window and venue booking, registration deadlines must be strictly adhered to. All deadlines for 2024 are posted on the Class Offerings page.

When is the ideal time to take HypnoBirthing® classes?

Most practitioners recommend taking a HypnoBirthing® class when you are between 20-32 weeks pregnant. Unlike some other childbirth education classes that prefer you to take the course closer to 34-36 weeks, we approach childbirth with a mindset to proactively condition ourselves for this transformative event much like an athlete would train for a marathon.

I only have 5 weeks until my due date! Is there still enough time left to take a class?

Absolutely! I have worked with many mothers in their final weeks of gestation with great success. Some mothers have chosen to take a group class while others have chosen a private class or 90-minute consultation. Keep in mind that should you deliver before the first class were to meet, I can provide a refund, however, there is no refund once classes have begun. With a very fast approaching estimated due date, I recommend an accelerated private class. It is the same 12.5+ hours of education and guided practice taught in the format of 3 weekly sessions of 4.5 hours each. With 4-5 weeks left until your EDD this may still allow you for time to practice the techniques after completing the entire course.
